Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I

Imagine, if you will, a scene when war is imminent between two countries and the Queen, mounted on her trusted steed and arrayed in her full warrior armor, is at the hilltop addressing her loyal army, which are ready for the epic battle to come. They are seasoned warriors, but she knows they need a moment of inspiration from her around which to coalesce, and that will give them a reason to fight this day. She gives an impassioned monologue in which she proclaims, “I am resolved, in the heat of battle, to live or die amongst you all. While we stand together, no invader shall pass! Let them come with the armies of hell, they will not pass! And when this day of battle is ended, we’ll meet again in heaven or on the field of victory.”

This was the scene in an epic movie, starring Cate Blanchett, titled, Elizabeth: The Golden Age. That day, in that short monologue, the Queen inspired her army to fight. She helps them to see the common goal that is greater than themselves: the survival of the kingdom, their home. In that moment they were united for a common purpose.

Well, that is our story as the Kenwood Worship Arts Team. Today, we are empowered by God’s Spirit, and we unite through our common beliefs and common goals, bound together in love, for common purposes. Those purposes are greater than any human purpose. They are to worship the creator, live by the principles of His holy Word, and to join Christ’s mission of spreading His love throughout the world. There are many enemies of our purposes: selfishness, pride, hate, greed, and fear; however, we must not shrink from our goal of demonstrating and bringing the love of Christ to a world that desperately needs love.
